GAI Enters the 21st Century: Follow Us on Twitter and Facebook
2015 marks the 50th year that GAI has been conducting congressional classes for federal personnel. It seems a fitting time, then, that we embrace new social media technologies to enable our alumni and other readers to more effectively keep current on those congressional and executive branch issues that we most closely follow.
Congress is an extremely complex institution, and it’s our objective in every class we conduct to provide participants with a deeper, richer understanding about congressional process, procedure and organization as well as current, important legislative issues. But Congress is a dynamic, rapidly changing institution, and staying current on congressional politics and issues, and the often complex reasons for why Congress acts can be very challenging, even for those of us who follow Congress on a daily basis.
It is for these reasons that GAI is now embracing new social media. Our purpose is to provide the best and most current information on Congress, and focusing on what’s important to our readers. We’ll point out the best information, offer analyses distilling what you need to know into short formats, answer questions you may have about legislative procedures, and keep you up to date on critical cycles relevant to the executive branch (i.e. the budget). We will also interpret that information for you in ways the mass media does not. In other words, this is a way for you to tap into your training with us from afar and on a more regular basis.
For 50 years our goal has been to develop and enrich our participants’ knowledge about congressional process, organization, and important legislative issues. With this new technology, we hope our past (and future) participants can stay connected with us so that they will continue their education about Congress well beyond the classroom.
We invite you to follow us on facebook and twitter (@govaffairsinst). If you have any questions or comments about what’s happening in Congress, reach out and we’ll get you an answer.
