Dear Friends,
I hope this note finds you all safe and healthy as we transition into 2022. Yesterday marked a dark but important anniversary: one year since the January 6 riot at the Capitol. The trauma of that day lingers for many in Washington and beyond, and I would draw your attention to some of the excellent coverage of the continuing impacts on Capitol Hill, from members and staff, to the Capitol Police, the press corps, and many more.
In this month’s newsletter, Senior Fellow (and newsletter editor) Laura Blessing offers a compelling discussion of how we should think about – and teach about – our government, and Congress in particular, in this moment. I hope you’ll spend some time with it.
Given the current Omicron wave, our programming remains all virtual for the foreseeable future. We have several excellent classes coming up, including our one-day Congressional Update, and our four-day Congressional Operations Seminar. If you’re looking for something more specialized, we can always tailor a program for your office. Finally, if you missed our final “Congress, Two Beers In” episode of 2021, be sure to catch up here – more to come soon.
All the best,
Kristin
