Dear Friends,

With less than a week to go before the midterm elections, Congress is on an extended recess and attention has shifted to a slew of consequential match-ups that will determine the political landscape not only in Congress, but in state houses across the country. We are, of course, watching it all with intense interest here at GAI, and we’ll be giving our analysis in future classes, podcasts, and blog posts.

In this edition of the newsletter, Senior Fellow Josh Huder shares his thoughts on the past few rounds of federal budget negotiations and how recent trends may play out in a 116th Congress that will likely feature dramatically different political dynamics.

If you want more on the post-election landscape and the upcoming session of Congress, join us on December 12 on Capitol Hill for our New Congress class. Would you rather have us to bring the information to you? Get in touch to find out how we can tailor this class on-site for your office or agency.

We wish you a wonderful November, and we hope to see you soon.

Kristin
