Congress Returns From Recess

According to Susan Davis at USA Today, the 113th Congress, returning to session this morning, has 39 legislative days scheduled before the end of the year. Many lawmakers were prepared to return for a month of budget debate leading up to October before the calendar was turned upside-down by the president coming to Congress seeking approval to intervene in Syria.

“If the Senate Syria resolution is filibustered, a vote on final passage could occur as late as the weekend. The House is not likely to act until — and unless — the Senate passes the resolution, probably pushing the House vote into the following week.”
