How to Register

Click to Proceed with Online Registration

Forms may be faxed or mailed to us, or you may register online.

After receipt of your registration form, a place will be reserved in the course for you and your registration status will be reserved until we receive payment information.

Payment information for courses must be received two weeks in advance of the start date of the course (unless otherwise noted on our website under Programs and Courses). Once payment information is received, you will be enrolled in the course. As payment information, we can accept training forms (i.e. SF-182, DD-1556 or other Purchase Order forms), credit cards (American Express, Visa, MasterCard), and checks made payable to the Government Affairs Institute.

Please complete the Registration Form completely in order to avoid delays in registration. The location of all GAI courses should be listed on the government training form as "Capitol Hill" (with the exception of Group C Courses which are conducted at our office).

General Cancellation and Transfer Policy

A participant may cancel or transfer their course registration and receive a full refund by notifying GAI in writing (by fax or email) no later than two weeks prior to the start of the course. If a participant cancels or transfers their course registration in writing less than two weeks prior to the start of the course, but at least two working days prior to the start date, they will be charged a $125 cancellation fee. If a participant fails to properly notify GAI of a course cancellation at least two working days prior to the start of the course, they will be charged the full tuition. However, they may attend a subsequent offering of the same course at fifty per cent of the tuition in effect when they actually attend the course.

Navy Capitol Hill Workshop Cancellation and Transfer Policy

Cancellations and transfers to another session must be received in writing (by email or fax) by the payment deadline for that class to avoid a cancellation or transfer fee. If it is received after the payment deadline, but at least one week prior to the start date of the class, your agency will be charged a $125 fee. If it is received less than one week prior to the start date of the class, the full tuition will be charged.  Requests to substitute an applicant must be received in writing (by mail or fax) with a completed registration form for the substitute.

Certificate Program Cancellation and Transfer Policy

For Group A and B courses, written notification (by fax or email) of cancellations or transfers must be received no later than two weeks prior to the start date of the course to avoid a $125 fee (unless otherwise noted on our website under Programs and Courses).  If a participant cancels or transfers in less than two weeks, but at least two working days prior to the start date, they will be charged a $125 fee.  If a participant fails to properly notify GAI of a course cancellation or transfer at least two working days prior to the start of the course, they will be charged the full tuition.  However, they may attend a subsequent offering of the same course at fifty per cent of the tuition in effect when they actually attend the course.

For Group C courses, cancellations or transfers must be in writing (by fax or email) received two weeks prior to the first class to avoid a $300 partial tuition charge.  Cancellations or transfers received after that, but prior to the second class, will result in a $425 partial tuition charge.  No refunds will be given after the second class.

Emergency and Inclement Weather Policy

GAI follows the decisions of the federal government regarding closings for inclement weather or in case of emergency. Thus, if the federal government is closed, GAI courses will not run. Information about government closings is available at 103.5 FM. If the federal government is operating under a delayed or modified schedule (e.g. unscheduled leave), GAI courses will begin on time. Please call GAI at 202-333-4838 if you have any questions.

Notification

Participants will receive written confirmation upon receipt of the completed registration form.

Approximately two weeks before the start of a course, participants will also receive a letter specifying the exact time and location of the first meeting.

A detailed agenda and all course materials will be distributed to each participant on the first day of the course.

Our courses normally begin at 8:00 a.m. in one of the House of Representatives office buildings.
